LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL, OBOT 1D1M, FACTS FILE:
- 1936 Lutheran Church founded in Nigeria
2.1949 Lutheran Mission applied for establishment of schools
- 1950 Lutheran Church founded in Nigeria
- 1950 L. Konz became the pioneer principal
5.1950 28 students (all males) were admitted in LHS
- 1952 Miss Dorah Effiong Udo became the first female student in LHS
- 1954 Eyo Udo Ekong became the first Gen. Prefect of LHS
- 1955 The first batch of students passed out
- 1956 The population grew to two streams
- 1957 Mr. A. A. Obot became the first black / indigenous
principal - 1959 Chemistry/Physics lab built
- 1959 School library built
- 1961 Lizzy Hall (female hostel) built
- 1963 LHS Chapel built
- 1963 LHS stadium constructed
- 1964 LHS students demanded for higher school A level
programme - 1964 Mrs. lbiatke Asuk became the first female student to make
the best result in mathematics - 1972 Government of the then South Eastern State took over the
management of Lutheran High School, Obot Idim from
Lutheran Church after 22 years
- 1974 LHS made the best Result in WASC in the country
- 1976 LHS' name was changed to Secondary School, Obot Idim. It
however reverted to its former name LHS in 1979
